It is with deep regret that the Alert Fire Co. No. 1 of Downingtown, PA announces the following:
Whereas, the Almighty God, in his infinite wisdom has removed from our midst on Sunday, December 23, 2018, one of our beloved brothers and Life Member, Norman Wesley Pannebaker, 82, who was always found faithful in the discharge of his duties and whose every thought and purpose was for the welfare of his company and department. And, while we deeply regret and mourn the loss sustained in the death of our late brother, we bow in humble submission to the Divine Will.
Therefore, be it resolved that we, the members of the Alert Fire Co. No. 1 of Downingtown, PA, do hereby extend and convey to the bereaved family and friends our deep and heartfelt sympathy.
Norman Wesley Pannebaker, Jr., 82, of Downingtown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Simpson Meadows in Downingtown. He was the beloved husband of Harriet “Cookie” Seibert Pannebaker, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Born on July 10, 1936, he was the son of the late Norman W. Pannebaker, Sr. and Lydia Catherine Skiles Pannebaker.
Wes was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Downingtown, a Life Member of the Alert Fire Co. No. 1 where he served as Trustee, Lieutenant and Captain throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s, in addition to a Freemason of the Williamson Lodge No. 309. He was an avid outdoorsman, Philadelphia Eagles fan, and loved spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Cookie, he is survived by his son, Wesley Charles Pannebaker (Dawn); his daughter, Ellen C. Eckman (David); a sister, Helen Carr (Hayes); five grandchildren, Alyssa Tischbein (Andrew), Mallory Gorr (Chase), Jack, Neil and Emma Eckman; and by two great grandchildren, James and Sadie Tischbein.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Central Presbyterian Church, 100 W. Uwchlan Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335. Family and friends will be received from 12:00 – 1:45 PM.
Interment will be private with the family.
