The Downingtown Fire Dept. (Alert No. 1 and Minquas No. 2) along with the First Alarm assignment of the West Whiteland Fire Co., Lionville Fire Co., Coatesville Fire Dept. and the First West Chester Fire Co. as the RIT were dispatched just before 7:00 AM for a building fire at the Caln East Apartments.
Lt. 46-B (Wolfinger) and Battalion 45 (Trego) arrived first to find an active electrical fire in the HVAC/Electrical closet, outside of the business office on the ground floor. Assistant 45 (J. Stevens) assumed Side C Ops with the search and rescue teams. The crew from Tower 45 (Capt. Wesson) entered the main entrance of the fire building and forced entry into the office and conducted search and rescue ops to confirm that everybody was out of the building. The team from Engine 46-2 (Firefighter T. Swisher) advanced a hand-line into the main entrance to support the search and rescue. The crew from Engine 46-1 (Lt. T. Lee) extinguished the fire with dry-powder fire extinguishers. Our mutual-aid partners assisted with the search, overhaul and ventilation.
