At 5:15 AM, Engines 45 and 46-2 were dispatched as part of the first alarm assignment to assist Station 47 (Lionville Fire Co.) with a building fire at C and S Repair Center, on the 500 block of W. Uwchlan Ave, Uwchlan Township.
Deputy 47 (M. Holmes) arrived on location to find a working building fire with flames through the roof, of a lawn mover repair shop. Engine 45 (Lt. McCarraher) responded as the second-due engine with a crew of five volunteers. Engine “Pipeline” 45 was assigned to lay 1800 feet (of our 2000 feet) of 5 inch supply-line, from Woodland Dr. and W. Uwchlan Ave. to supply the first-due Engine 47-2, who laid an alley-lay at the end of the driveway to the front of the building. Engine 46-2 was positioned at the fire hydrant and boosted the pressure of the supply line during the fire.
The Downingtown Fire Dept. volunteers assisted with fire attack and overhaul at the fire scene and returned to the Borough at 8:00 AM.
