A few members of the DFD took advantage of the unseasonably warm January temperatures and launched our newly acquired Rescue One boat into the Schuylkill River in Phoenixville.  The DFD recently purchased this boat with the help from East Caln Twp. from the Cornwells Fire Co. in Bucks Co. 

Our new boat is a 16' aluminum flat bottom "John Type" boat with a 40 hp Mercury jet drive motor.  The boat is especially made for the emergency services to be used in swift water and flood conditions.

The members are currently participating in a 80 hour training program to be nationally certified in Emergency Water/Ice Rescue and Emergency Boat Operations.
