As a precautionary measure, during the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, we will not allow any visitors into our operations side of our firehouse. In addition, only our Active Force emergency responders will be permitted in our firehouse during operations for responding to emergency calls. We are sorry that we have to temporally close our home to visitors and when this COVID-19 issue passes, we encourage you to visit us again.
The leadership of our company and the Downingtown Fire Dept. will continue to monitor developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic and will adjust accordingly to maintain an appropriate response level for the citizens of our community.
Below, is a copy of the information that will be posted on our operations side of the firehouse doors:
To our Visitors and Members,
The primary responsibility of the Alert Fire Co. No. 1 is to provide emergency services to our community. With this in mind, it is imperative to protect our first responders, so that they can be available to respond to fire, rescue, EMS and any additional types of emergencies.
Effective immediately, until further notice, the Alert Fire Co. No. 1 is closed to all visitors, immediate family members, personnel from other organizations and vendors. Only, Downingtown Fire Dept. Active Force members and staff are permitted to be in our buildings, for emergencies and any special training events.
It should be noted that this decision is driven, not only by our readiness to respond to emergencies within our community, but to protect our members and their families. In addition, we are following the guidelines issued by the Chester County Department of Health to restrict meetings and gatherings during this time period.
