At 9:56 AM, the Downingtown Fire Dept. was dispatched to a smoke investigation in the woods, in the area east of the former Penn Central Railroad High Trestle Bridge in East Caln Twp.
Assistant Chief 45 (Trego) and Engine 45 (Captain McCarraher) arrived on location and found an actual section of the bridge on fire. Brush 45 (Lt. Tatham), TAC 39 (West Bradford Fire Co.), Brush 6 and ATV 6 (West Whiteland Fire Co.) shuttled water down the former railroad bed to the fire scene. Engine 45, Engine 46-2 (Minquas Fire Co. No. 2) and Tanker 39 maintained a water supply.
Engine 39-1, Brush 39 and Brush 51 (First West Chester Co.) fought the woods fire below the bridge on Trolley Station Rd.
