At 1:45 PM today, Station 46 (Minquas Fire Company No. 2) was dispatched for a tree down onto electric wires, due to the high winds, on Rt. 113, near the entrance of the Northwood Cemetery in East Caln Township, PA.
Engine 46-2 arrived on location confirming a tree down on a power line with the nearby woods on fire and spreading up the hill, further into the woods. Assistant Chief 46 (S. Miller) requested Brush 45 to assist.
Brush 45 gained access via a trail through the woods on the north side of the Northwood Cemetery. Due to the extensive distance of the fire into the woods, the crew extended 150′ of 1.75″ hose to a gated wye then added 150′ of forestry line and the booster line to fight the fire. TAC-39 (West Bradford Fire Company) arrived and supplied Brush 45.
After PECO arrived and secured the electricity of the power line, the crews from Engines 45, 46-1 and 46-2 supplied Brush 45 and extinguished the grass and woods fire along Rt. 113.
During the woods fire, Engine 45 responded to a CO Alarm at Central Presbyterian Church. At 5:00 PM, The DFD was dispatched to an auto accident at Rt. 113 and N. Woodmont Drive in East Caln Twp. The crews from Rescue 45 and Engine 46-2 secured the hazards and assisted EMS. Squad 45 assisted the Fire Police with traffic control.
