At 9:54 AM, the Downingtown Fire Dept. volunteers, in addition to Engine and Rescue 38 (Thorndale Fire Co.), Engine and Tanker 39 (West Bradford Fire Co.), Engine and Ladder 49 (East Brandywine Fire Co.) and Engine 51-1 (First West Chester Fire Co.,) as the RIT were dispatched to J&L Creative Nails in the 100 block of E. Lancaster Ave. for a building fire.
It was determined that an unattended candle was left burning overnight and created a small fire and smoke condition inside of the building. The mutual aide companies were released from the scene and the crews from Tower and Engine 45 checked for fire extension and ventilated the two story building.
